Presumably readers are familiar with the tragic situation in
Darfur. Darfur comes up in a members-only
FAQ from Amnesty International (AI) USA on the policy recently adopted by AI's International Executive Committee for decriminalization of abortion and pressuring governments to provide access to abortion.
Darfur is first in a list of what AI will be able to do with its new policy on abortion. AI wants to "help" by supporting access to abortions for the women of Darfur.
AI should not be working to assist those carrying out genocide by facilitating the killing of the unborn children of Darfur. Isn't the direct killing and death by starvation of large numbers of men, women and born children bad enough? Must the unborn be killed as well?
The people of Darfur need to be helped to live. The last thing they need is more deaths. AI should get back to human rights work instead of taking on the cause of killing more unborn among the poor and oppressed.
